The 2015 Oncofertility Conference kicked off this morning with a rousing call to action from Dr. Teresa Woodruff. Dr. Woodruff explained that over the last 40 years, markedly improved childhood cancer survival has increased the need for pediatric oncofertility programs. She reviewed efforts to date to address this unmet need, including the National Physicians Cooperative (NPC) which helps develop best practices, and highlighted how this year’s Conference will address current issues in the field, ranging from updates in translational research to fertility preservation in gender dysphoria.
