Kathrin Gassei, PhD is a clinical scientist with a background in male reproductive biology, and the program coordinator for the Fertility Preservation Program at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She completed her graduate thesis with Dr. Stefan Schlatt using tissue-engineering approaches to study Sertoli cell maturation and to construct spermatogonial stem cell niches in vitro. She then moved on to study spermatogonial stem cell regulation as a post-doctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Kyle Orwig. Kathrin's primary goals are to translate laboratory findings into the clinic and to improve fertility preservation counselling and education for doctors, nurses, and patient families.
