Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute Half-Marathon and 10K

May 16, 2010 12:30 am - 6:00 am

The Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute was the official charity of the Magellan Development Chicago Spring Half Marathon and 10K this year on Sunday, May 16th

The Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute is a leader in the fight against brain and spinal cord tumors when it comes to clinical trials and treatment options.  In recent years, many novel and effective therapies have been developed for treating brain cancer.  While these therapies can help patients win the battle against cancer, they can also cause infertility, or the inability to conceive and have children.  It is important that young patients with brain tumors have access to fertility consults before, during, and after their cancer treatments.  The Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute works in conjunction with the Oncofertility Consortium to provide that service to all young patients to create comprehensive cancer care.

The Oncofertility Consortium had a great showing of support at the event.  Our Clinical Research Coordinator, Shauna Gardino, finished 4th in her age group with a lightning-fast time of 1:36:12.  Click here to view the results of the race!
