FEMBRYO Fertility and Gynaecology Clinic

FEMBRYO Fertility and Gynaecology Clinic is serving the population of the rural Eastern Cape and Karoo regions of South Africa. It is a middle to low income area and is the only clinic offering fertility services to the population in the region. Unfortunately there are no goverment/public services available to non private patients for fertility or fertility preservation. All treatment is patient funded and not covered by Medical Aids. Despite these barriers to access, patient awareness has been improved since closer cooperation with Oncology Units in the area and availability of better evidence related to survival in patients with cancer during reproductive years. We are closely working together with Cancercare, a cancer treatment unit in Port Elizabeth. We are offering all current treatment modalities and is a SASREG accredited unit with representation on the board of SASREG (Southern African Society of Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecological Endoscopy) as Past President and current Vice President. SASREG is represented by Dr Chris Venter in association with Oncofertility Consortium.
