The center for reproductive medicine of Peking University Third Hospital is one of the largest reproductive centers in the world. The first In vitro fertilization (IVF) baby in mainland China was born here in 1988. As the National Clinical Research Center of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Key Laboratory of Assisted Reproduction of Ministry of Education and the Reproductive Endocrine and Assisted Reproductive Technology Key Laboratory of Beijing, China, they have optimized fertility preservation platform for female and male infertility treatment, including optimizing the technology of human ovarian tissue preservation ，establishing the largest ovarian tissue preservation bank for tumor patients in China and improved three-dimensional culture system of human follicles in vitro. They have invented a novel vitrification carrier and a novel vitrification medium, and established an outstanding mode of “egg bank” for China. On the other hand, they have revealed the transcriptome landscape of human oogenesis and follicuogenesis, which is the first comprehensive investigation of transcript profiles from both the germ cell and surrounding somatic cells in human embryo gonad and adult ovary (Cell 2015, Cell Stem Cell 2017, 2018, Molecular cell 2018), and improved three-dimensional culture system of human follicles growth in vitro and immature oocyte maturation in vitro. Based on the work above, they have edited the book Fertility Preservation awarded the “Chinese excellent publications” in 2015. Dr. Qiao was invited to comment entitled “Fertility Preservation: Challenges and Opportunities” in Lancet 2014. Up to now, the center have built up an excellent team for oncofertility, including reproductive medicine specialists, tumor specialists, pathology specialists and basic researchers, who are able to develop individualized treatment programs for fertility protection and preservation.
