Last week, the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern and the Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health Sciences University were designated the first-ever Centers of Excellence in Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology care. According to the Health Care Rights Initiative, which launched the award, these institutions provide superior care and information for AYA oncology patients. The designation was provided based on the quality of fertility counseling, health insurance and financial counseling, clinical trail education and facilitation, psychosocial support, and assistance to surveillance and survivorship.
