Five teachers in San Diego, California were named “Teachers of the Year” during an evening gala on Saturday, October 16th, 2010. The annual televised event honored outstanding public school teachers in San Diego County. Ericka Senegar-Mitchell, PhD was one of the honored teachers. “Dr. Ericka,” as her students call her, is a biology teacher at Junipero Serra High School and runs an after school program called Science in the City. Members of the oncofertility community also know her as the gregarious Teacher of Record for the Oncofertility Academy in San Diego that is run in partnership with the BE WiSE education program. We wish Senegar-Mitchell well as she advances to compete in the state-wide California Teacher of the Year program.
