The Pediatric and Adolescent Committee (PAC) of the Oncofertility Consortium welcomes the engagement of our community through collaborative projects with our Clinical Practice or Research Subcommittees. Both subcommittees hope to foster mentorship and collaboration between members, as well as continue to move our knowledge and practice forward. We have developed a process to ensure the project is a good fit between the primary investigator’s research idea and alignment with a PAC subcommittee. The process will allow for tracking of projects, mentorship, bringing together appropriate expertise and ensuring the project meets scientific standards.
The first step to becoming a PAC subcommittee supported project is writing an email of intent, sent to the appropriate subcommittee chairs. Investigators with a new idea for a project should first consider which subcommittee it best fits under, Research or Clinical Practice. A short email of intent should be sent to the subcommittee Chair and Vice-Chair including the:
-
- Working title of the proposed project
- Proposed authors/working group and any gaps in expertise you may foresee
Research or clinical question(s) to be asked
After reviewing this information, the subcommittee Chair/Vice-Chair will communicate back as to whether this project appears to be a “good fit” and invite you to develop a PAC concept proposal. You may also receive initial feedback, including suggestions from members to fill gaps in expertise (if needed). Some projects may not move forward under the PAC, however, this does not mean they are not worthwhile projects; instead the project may be too narrow a scope or may progress faster without the involvement of a subcommittee. PAC supported projects are typically projects that will be of interest to or engage the PAC community (i.e. surveys).
Once the subcommittee Chair/Vice-Chair has communicated approval to move forward, we ask that each investigator/working group submit a full concept proposal within 12 weeks. The concept proposal form can be found below:
