On January 18, 2017, Dr. Teresa Almeida Santos and her PhD student, Claudia Melo, presented the first Virtual Grand Rounds meeting of 2017. Their presentation focused on oncofertility in Portugal and the advances made at the Centro de Preservação da Fertilidade Portugal since the program started in 2008. Teresa Almeida Santos is an Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Coimbra in Portugal and a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology with a subspecialty in assisted reproduction. She is a full-time member of the Hospital Center and University of Coimbra where she is the Director of Human Reproduction Services and coordinator of the Fertility Preservation Center. She is also the President of the Portuguese Society of Reproductive Medicine and General Secretary of the European Society of Gynecology.
Dr. Teresa Almeida Santos and members of her team have been an active members of the Oncofertility Global Partner's Network. She has contributed intellectually to both OC Global Partner’s manuscripts. In 2016, she was a co-chair of the Oncofertility Conference where she lead the Global Partner’s breakfast and presented on her work in Portugal. She was also the moderator of the Low/No Resource Panel discussion.
Members of her team have worked with us to translate Repropedia and SaveMyFertility to Portuguese. They have been an integral part of the growing Global Partners Network. Dr. Santos and her team have also recently published the Portuguese Recommendations for Fertility Preservation in the Portuguese Journal of Oncology.
