Resources For Educators
Educators play an important role in the Oncofertility Consortium’s mission. A solid understanding of reproductive biology is important to ensure that all people can make fully informed decisions about their future reproductive health. Thus, public education is a critical function to disseminate information to male and female patients, their partners, and their parents. In addition, outreach to children and teenagers is necessary to provide them with a basic understanding of reproductive biology, and a basis for conceptualizing advanced reproductive and endocrine concepts as the future researchers, clinicians, and patients of tomorrow.
The Women's Health Science Program and Oncofertility Saturday Academy
The Women’s Health Research Institute created the Women’s Health Science Program (WHSP) for High School Girls & Beyond to provide science education programs to females from underserved communities. WHSP targets young women who are considering careers in science and medicine and prepares them with valuable knowledge and skills to successfully become the next generation of women science leaders. The Oncofertility Saturday Academy was founded in 2007 to expose high school students to laboratory and medical science research in the fields of cancer, fertility, and oncofertility

Childhood Reproductive Education
The Oncofertility Consortium is working to educate children and young people about their reproductive health and anatomy. The team consists of Dr. Teresa Woodruff, an expert in reproduction, and two other collaborators, Dr. Ellen Wartella and Eric Patrick, MFA, both faculty members of the School of Communications at Northwestern University. Together this interdisciplinary team will develop scientific curriculum for a younger audience (ages 10-14) and turn that curriculum in to a series of three animations and songs to make the materials accessible to the younger audience.
